Why copy package.json first?
Dependency layers rebuild only when manifests change; source edits then reuse the cached npm layer.
CMD vs ENTRYPOINT?
CMD is the default args (easily overridden); ENTRYPOINT fixes the executable. Combine both for CLI images.
